From a Jeans to a Up-Recycled Denim Whale

This journey turned an old denim into a sea-inspired upcycled denim whale puppet. The story of an eco-friendly creation that brings new life into discarded jeans.

Choosing denim for this project wasn't just about aesthetics; it was a conscious decision to reduce waste. By upcycling old jeans, I gave new purpose to discarded fabric and contributed to a more sustainable crafting journey.

Cutting and stitching became a dance of creativity as I transformed denim remnants into the body of the whale.

I sew some decorative and shape giving seams on the belly pieces. The seam were curved and, following the shape of the piece. Each flipper and tail detail brought the whale to life. I added some decorative seams with a contrasting colour thread to the fins. This gave some individuality to the whale. For the whale's eyes  I used reclaimed buttons.
